The standard of A4 Paper is determined by GSM (gram for every sq. meter). It is actually in fact the thickness on the paper. As an example an 80gsm paper will probably be thicker than 70gsm paper. Thicker papers are useful for drawing with markers or coloured pencils of more substantial cross-area.
